
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Tuesday (May 26, 2026) chaired a review meeting with Ministers and officials and instructed them to take appropriate legal measures expeditiously to safeguard the existing 69% reservation policy in Tamil Nadu.
The review meeting chaired by the Chief Minister came against the backdrop of cases challenging the 69% reservation provided for Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes in Tamil Nadu in admissions to educational institutions and government jobs, which are scheduled to be heard by the Supreme Court on Wednesday (May 27).
Minister for Public Works and Sports Development Aadhav Arjuna, Minister for Energy Resources and Law R. Nirmalkumar, Minister for Backward Classes Welfare V. Sampath Kumar, Advocate General Vijay Narayan, and senior officials participated in the meeting.
