President Trump met Monday with Lip-Bu Tan, the CEO of Intel, who Trump just days earlier had called on to resign over claims he was "conflicted."

Trump said he met with Tan, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. The president provided few details about their conversations, but he indicated he would have more to say in the future.

"The meeting was a very interesting one. His success and rise is an amazing story," Trump posted on Truth Social. "Mr. Tan and my Cabinet members are going to spend time together, and bring suggestions to me during the next week."

Trump last week said Tan was "highly CONFLICTED and must resign, immediately." He provided no other details, though Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) had recently written to Intel raising concerns about Tan's ties to China.

Cotton also voiced concerns about Tan's previous role as CEO of Cadence Design Systems, which pleaded guilty and paid $140 million last month for violating export controls by selling chip design technology to a Chinese military university.

Tan responded the following day, saying he had "always operated within the highest legal and ethical standards."

Intel is a key company in the United States's chip manufacturing industry. Tan said in his statement the company would be “ramping toward” making advanced semiconductors later this year.
