Maharashtra Special Investigation Team (SIT) made three more arrests in the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) paper leak scam on Thursday (July 2, 2026). The accused were arrested from Pathankot in Punjab and Samastipur in Bihar.

The names of the arrested accused are Kapil Dahiya, Mithunkumar Sublal Singh and Sonukumar Kushweshwar Singh. They have been remanded to police custody till July 9. This has taken the total number of arrests in the case to seven. But the alleged mastermind is still on the run.

Kapil Dahiya, who was named in the original First Information Report (FIR), was nabbed in Pathankot. He was one of the four men who had arrived in Mumbai last week to sell the TET leaked paper. He was accompanied by Dheeraj Singh, another accused. While the police laid a trap and arrested his accomplice, Kapil Dahiya had managed to slip away to Pune and fly out of Maharashtra thereafter. He had booked the flight ticket in the name of ‘Kapil Kapil’ to evade the attention of the investigating agencies.

Kapil Dahiya was in touch with the mastermind Bijendar Kumar Gupta, who had arranged his travel to Pune to sell the papers. The police also arrested Mithunkumar Sublal Singh. He is a resident of Samastipur in Bihar, and had gone to Pune to sell papers and assist in providing answers.

Sonukumar Singh is the name of the third person arrested in the case. He runs a photoshop centre in Samastipur in Bihar, and has been accused of providing fake identity documents to the main accused Bijendar Gupta. “This helped Bijendar run away on the basis of fake documents. Sonukumar also helped Bijendar in making copies of leaked exam papers at his shop,” a senior IPS officer said.
