Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a disproportionate assets case against suspended Shamirpet tahsildar and joint sub-registrar Thummakomma Sucharita for amassing assets far beyond her known sources of income through corrupt and questionable means during her service.

The ACB officials conducted searches at her residence and three other locations linked to her relatives, benamis and associates.

During the searches, officials identified agricultural land measuring 2 acres and 17 guntas in Damarakunta village of Siddipet district, three flats in different parts of Hyderabad and two plots in Keesara and Khanamet villages. Investigators also found cash of around ₹12 lakh, two cars, gold and diamond ornaments valued at approximately ₹1.20 crore, and bank balances amounting to ₹38 lakh.

According to the ACB, the total value of the assets detected during the searches stands at over ₹5.05 crore. Officials said the market value of the immovable properties is likely to be significantly higher than their documented value.

The ACB said further verification of additional assets is under way and the investigation remains in progress.

Sucharita had already been arrested in a separate bribery case on May 26 after she was trapped while demanding bribe of ₹30 lakh and accepting a part payment of ₹2 lakh. She was produced before the special court for SPE and ACB cases and is currently in judicial custody.

The ACB has urged members of the public to report instances of bribery by public servants through its toll-free helpline, 1064.
