
The Bengaluru Traffic Police conducted a special drive against drunken driving and speeding from June 8 to June 14, as part of efforts to enhance road safety and curb traffic violations across the city.
The enforcement drive was carried out by personnel from all 53 traffic police stations in Bengaluru. During the operation, traffic officers checked 42,108 vehicles of various categories to identify motorists driving under the influence of alcohol.
As part of the crackdown, police registered 649 cases of drunken driving against offenders.
In a parallel drive, police booked 143 motorists for violating speed limits, and collected ₹1.44 lakh in fines.
According to traffic police officials, the special drive was launched to address the dangers posed by drunken driving and speeding, which continue to be major causes of road accidents and fatalities.
The Bengaluru Traffic Police stated that similar enforcement drives will continue in the future to ensure greater compliance with traffic rules and improve safety for all road users..
