The first chilled fish consignment to Oman under the India-Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) was flagged off at the Chennai Air Cargo Complex on June 1. Exported by Aqua World Exports Pvt. Ltd., the shipment is headed for Al Tayeb Lisla Al Istalakiya and Business SPC and facilitated by Lulu Logistics.

The consignment was flagged off by G. Jayapalan, Joint Director, Export Inspection Agency (EIA), and A. Jeyabal, Joint Director, Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA), in the presence of A. Abhijith, director of Aqua World Exports Private Limited.

Officials said Oman was emerging as a key market for Indian seafood exports, with shipments from India rising to 9,984 tonnes, valued at ₹166.53 crore in 2025-26, from 7,805 tonnes worth ₹133.46 crore in 2024-25. The CEPA is expected to boost exports by lowering trade barriers, improving market access, and creating opportunities for high-value seafood products.
