The Telangana Government has extended the working hours of all Sub-Registrar Offices (SRO) till 7.30 pm from May 29 to June 3.
The decision follows heavy rush at the SROs for registration of land transactions ever since the government announced its intentions to revise land and registration values in line with the boom in real estate activity. The upward revision in the values has been proposed in view of the mismatch between the registration values and actual prices that is resulting in loss of revenue to the Government.
Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the SROs would function from 9.30 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. to avoid inconvenience to people thronging the registration offices.
Mr. Srinivas Reddy directed the officials to take steps to see that people approaching the SROs were not made to face problems due to long queues. The number of slots should be increased in line with the demand, he told officials.
Steps should be taken to ensure coordination between SROs in registration of agricultural land to avoid delays in processing documents.
