Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran, on Sunday (May 17, 2026), said he would seek a CBI inquiry if legislators belonging to the AIADMK or AMMK were given ministerial berths in the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)-led government.
Speaking to reporters in Tiruchi, he alleged that the TVK had “poached” legislators and accused the party of engaging in “horse-trading”.
He claimed some parties had extended support to the TVK, founded by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, for political reasons despite ideological differences, and alleged that the stability of the government was uncertain.
Referring to AIADMK legislators extending support to the TVK, he said such decisions would weaken the AIADMK itself.
Mr. Dhinakaran maintained that the AIADMK could not be destroyed and said internal differences within the party were nothing new.
He expressed confidence that the party would emerge stronger in the coming elections. Criticising Mr. Vijay, he said the former had earlier targeted the AIADMK by calling it a corrupt party, and questioned the rationale behind AIADMK rebel legislators backing him now.
He also alleged that Finance Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan was acting as an “agent” of the TVK to weaken the AIADMK.
Mr. Dhinakaran asserted that the AMMK would continue as a member of the National Democratic Alliance and added that several leaders of the BJP were concerned over the ongoing issues within the AIADMK.
