President Trump backed up his wife, first lady Melania Trump, in her threat to sue Hunter Biden, former President Biden’s son, over comments linking her to convicted sex offender and disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.

“Well, I said go forward, you know, I’ve done pretty well on these lawsuits lately, and I said, go forward with it,” Trump said during his Thursday morning Fox News Radio interview with host Brian Kilmeade.

The younger Biden alleged during his July interview with YouTube personality Andrew Callaghan that Epstein, who died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial, was the person who introduced Melania to the president, citing author Michael Wolff, who has been criticized by Trump and his allies.

Melania Trump’s attorney said in a letter dated Aug. 6 that Hunter Biden’s remarks are “false, disparaging, defamatory” and “extremely salacious.” The first lady is seeking $1 billion in damages.

Trump told Kilmeade that Epstein had “nothing” to do with his introduction to Melania and turned his ire toward the news media, saying, “they do that to demean, they make up stories.”

“I mean, I can tell you exactly how it wasn’t—, it was another person, actually. I did meet through another person. But it wasn’t Jeffrey Epstein,” the president said. “Yeah, I told her, let’s go ahead and do it. I let her use my lawyers.”

“She was very upset about it,” the president added.

In an interview posted to YouTube, Hunter Biden said, “Uh, f‑‑‑ that. That’s not going to happen," when Callaghan offered Biden a chance to apologize.

Trump’s links to Epstein have been in the headlines in recent months as lawmakers from both sides of the aisle have demanded that the federal government release more documents related to the Epstein case.
